Colin's Helmet
Or "cranial remolding orthoses"... but we prefer helmet!
It's to help with his "deformational plagiocephaly"... but we prefer "funny-shaped head".
We thought it would be blue, but it's kinda purple. We're gonna cover it with stickers.
He doesn't seem to mind it, but we're only on day two so he hasn't slept with it yet.
He's still getting used to it though so we're giving him extra attention in order to avoid this:

Babes in the City
We had a nice afternoon in the city today.
Lunch in Copley Square, shopping on Newbury, stroll through the South End...
Later, back at home...

Colin in 3D
Check it out, Colin imaged in 3D!
It was cooler on their application, the guy could "spin" the image around. I just got a screenshot of the image.
And, naturally, you know what this means! Our little guy has a deformed head and he gets to wear a sweet protective helmet for 1-3 months! Just like this little person:
Honestly, we're happy to have it done and excited to get it over with. Colin has had a flat spot in the back, left of his head since about 3 months (positional plagiocephaly) and we were initially told it was mild and he should grow out of it. But now, the flat spot is starting to push one ear and one side of his forehead forward. After second, and third, opinions, we finally got a prescription for the helmet. It's clear he's not growing out of it. We tried repositioning him to no avail. We think he had a major growth spurt at an inopportune time, and therapy isn't helping, so he'll be donning a cranial remoulding helmet in 2 weeks!
What we AREN'T excited about is that our health insurance company - Aetna - does NOT cover this, unlike EVERY OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY in the UNIVERSE that does cover it at least 80% and up to 100%. Colin can only get TMJ, ear problems, eye problems, etc... but no, Aetna says it's "cosmetic" only. We are working with our HR and Health Advocate people to see what we can do about the $1750 out-of-pocket cost for this thing...
So, certainly, more pics to come in two weeks when Colin gets his headgear! We picked out a blue one and can't wait to decorate it!

Sitting and Playing
We've really gotten the hang of sitting up and playing...
Ava sitting up big-girl style with her beautiful smile!
Colin leaning back and loving it...
Playing with ALL of our toys!
We even last for time periods of up to and including 10 minutes like this!
Um... what is this new smile?
